Genuine GM Parts 12701997 - Gen V LT5 Supercharger Assembly
Genuine GM Replacement Part
12701997
This GenV LT5 Supercharger assembly is an OEM replacement part for your C7 ZR1 or hot rod project!
Supercharger Cover Assembly PN: 12685979 is not included and must be purchased separately!
Displacing 2.65 liters, the LT5 produces 14 psi (0.9 bar) of boost. That’s about 4.5 psi more than the LT4 engine, but achieved with a slower, 15,860-rpm maximum rotor speed, which helps keep down the pressurized air charge’s temperature. The LT4’s 1.7-liter blower spins up to 20,000 rpm and can be more prone to heat soak when driven spiritedly over long periods or multiple laps.

Description
To increase peak output by 105 horsepower and maximum torque by 65 lbft (88 Nm) versus the LT4, most of the components topping the LT5 engine are new:
• The Eaton-developed Twin Vortices Series (TVS) superchargers displacement is 52% larger to deliver substantially more intake air. This blower is spun 2.4 times crankshaft speed versus the LT4s 3.1:1 drive ratio.
• Peak boost rises from 9.4 to 14 psi. A side benefit of the new supercharger design is that the LT5 is quieter than the Z06 in its Tour driving mode.
• The LT5’s four-lobe compressor rotors are larger in diameter and longer with a tighter 170-degree helical twist than the LT4’s 160-degree rotors..
• The number of ribs in the drive belt is increased from eight to 11.
• The LT5s 95-mm (3.74-in.) throttle body is 8 mm (0.31-in.) larger than the LT4s inlet plate and a new blower bypass valve vents excess air more efficiently.
• Two significantly larger intercoolers double the LT4s charge-air heat rejection, necessitating a 73 mm (2.9-in.) increase in the height of the intake plenum cover.
• To supplement the direct fuel injection during high-load conditions, a new port-injection system operated by a second electronic control module has been added to the LT5.
