SDPC SDR218228LT - Camshaft Upgrade for Gen V LT Engines

Description

Extensive testing has resulted in one of the best performing and easy on the valvetrain camshafts you'll find for the LTx platform.  This cam is mild enough to not draw too much attention, but packs a punch you won't expect!

The camshaft specs are 218/228 duration and .570"/.570" lift, with 114 degree LSA and +3 degrees of advance.  

Our 5.3l L84 test engine made 463hp and 455tq on our in house engine dyno with the factory truck intake manifold.  Swapping the intake out for the LT2 intake manifold with an LT5 throttle body opened the 5.3 up to 490hp and 447tq!

Next up we bolted this cam into a customer's 6.6l L8T.  We didn't run this one with a factory tuck intake manifold, but with an MSD Atomic intake manifold it delivered 598hp and 553tq.

This cam does not require an aftermarket torque converter in 8 or 10-speed vehicles.

You MUST use our VVT delete front cover and an LS3 timing gear with this camshaft in a factory vehicle. Please choose the appropriate cover based on your factory front cover, as to whether it has the wiring going through the hole in the front cover to your oil pump solenoid.  Most vehicles have this hole, while DFM vehicles (L84 and L87) typically do not 

If you are using a Holley or other aftermarket ECU, you can keep your stock front cover by using an ls3 cam gear and camshaft sensor part number 12641040.

*Choosing our cam installation kit will make this a bolt in cam for your Gen V engine.  This kit includes a VVT delete front cover, LS3 cam gear and bolt, water pump gaskets, balancer bolt, and front main seal.
