The new SP350 crate engine incorporates modern technologies such as a beehive-type valve springs to take the classic 350 Small-Block to new levels of high-rpm performance without sacrificing the signature torque that has made it the benchmark of V-8 engines for nearly half a century. In fact, the 385 HP rating of the engine is complemented by excellent low-rpm torque with the SP350 generating 405 lb.-ft. of torque at 3,600 rpm. It’s all due to the high-flow, lightweight aluminum cylinder heads. They’re based on the proven Fast Burn design with large intake runners and 2.00/1.55-inch valves. The beehive valve springs enable greater high-rpm performance and durability, allowing the engine to rev higher to make the most of every cubic foot of air drawn through it. As with all of Chevrolet Performance’s Small-Block crate engines, the SP350 is built with a cast-iron block with four-bolt mains. It also features a forged steel crankshaft, an aggressive hydraulic roller camshaft and durable high silicon pistons.
