Maintenance & Troubleshooting

Signs of Wear & Troubleshooting

  • The following Trouble Shooting Guide should be helpful if you encounter any problems after you have installed our products. If your window won't move or runs slowly:
    • Switch may be faulty.
    • Wiring: check wiring for any signs of fraying around connector.
    • Weather stripping may be binding or causing drag on window.
    • Check fuse.
    • Check that battery is in good condition and connected.
    • Be sure ignition is in the 'Accessory Position'.
    • Be sure window is seated in guides properly.
  • If your window vibrates when moving:
    • If replacement was 'motor' only, be sure motor gear is properly aligned with regulator gear.
    • Check weather stripping for drag on window.
    • Be sure moving parts on regulator or window itself are not encountering interference.
  • If your window makes noise when moving (NOTE: A noise level similar to the ‘hum' of a small fan is expected.) If louder, then:
    • Be sure window is seated in guides properly.
    • Check that screws holding regulator are tight.
    • Check to see if wires or cables are interfering with movement of window or regulator.

Good Maintenance Practices

  • There are many things you can do to keep your vehicle's window system running smoothly:
    • Never try to roll down the window when it is frozen.
    • Keeping the parts well-greased is important to ensure that they keep operating properly.
