• Surface energy influences the ability of adhesives to adequately wet plastic surfaces and create strong bonds. Adhesion promoters are particularly useful when dealing with low surface energy plastics, helping to create a secure bond that is difficult to achieve with an adhesive alone.

Good Maintenance Practices:

• Today's adhesives provide a number of engineering advantages over traditional fasteners. Oftentimes they form a bond that is actually stronger than the parts being attached together. Adhesives are also one of the only ways to bond new materials like carbon composites that can't be welded. They effectively distribute loads better than spot welds or rivets, and allow panels to be attached across wide surface areas, as adhesives distribute outside forces more efficiently.
• Surface must be clean, dry, and free of foreign matter before application. Contaminated surfaces may be cleaned with naphtha or isopropyl alcohol using a clean, dry, lint-free cloth.
• Product should be applied in a thin uniform coating on the surface to be activated.
• Allow to dry completely (1-3 minutes) before applying an adhesive. Adhesive should be applied within one hour for best results.
