Maintenance & Troubleshooting
Signs of Wear & Troubleshooting
- Although vehicle interiors should be cleaned regularly, these are some examples of warning signs that they are particularly in need of attention:
- Materials and/or surfaces are noticeably faded.
- Debris deposits (such as salt in the winter) have formed on interior carpeting and/or carpeting is visibly matted down.
- Materials, particularly leather, feel brittle and show (or are beginning to show) noticeable cracks.
- Surfaces and interior materials display visible scratches and/or blemishes.
Good Maintenance Practices
- Use a clean terry cloth to blot then wipe the surface.
- This product should be used in conjunction with ACDelco Leather and Vinyl Conditioner.
- Clean your vehicle interior regularly. Neglecting interior materials can cause them to fade, crack, and ultimately sustain irreparable damage. Bacteria and allergens can collect over time if the interior is not properly maintained. A poorly maintained interior can affect the resale value of the vehicle.
- Always use the proper cleaning products for each specific material within your vehicle interior (leather, cloth, vinyl, carpet, etc.).
- Make sure to pretest the material to be cleaned before using a particular product.
- Wipe up and clean stains as quickly as possible - the more time they have to set, the more difficult they will be to remove.
- Avoid excessive use of water when cleaning the vehicle's interior, as it can cause a lingering musty smell and mildew buildup.
- Take pre-emptive steps whenever possible. Window tinting and sun shades are great ways to minimize the fading of interior materials.
