These 502 c.i.d. bare engine blocks are straight from Chevrolet Performance. These Gen VI cast iron blocks are a stout foundation for any big-block engine project. This "short-deck" block was designed to meet the needs of powerful and reliable 500 c.i.d. street or marine engines. The block cylinder walls are Siamesed and are bored to 4.47 inch. The deck surfaces are reinforced to enhance the head gasket seal. Four-bolt main bearing caps are utilized to strengthen cylinder barrels and add strength to the bottom-end. Standard deck of 9.800 inch are employed on these blocks. They are used on 502 engine assemblies and partial engines, and can use roller or standard tappet camshafts.
